This book will really tug at your heart-strings, I really enjoyed the way it was written. Selena, You're Beautiful is a classic that I will enjoy time and again, one of those books you keep rather than re-gifting...
What a positive and uplifting book-- so much different to the other books out there that seem to focus on witches and wizards. Stanley Buford is an original story teller, a unique voice that I loved to read....I read this cover to cover in under a week which is great for me!
The main character in this story, Selena, has a problem relating to men because she has had an "unpleasant secret" to live with for the past 15 years. It involves an inappropriate contact by an uncle she knew, trusted and loved. She finally meets a man she admires and shares her secret with; however, it is a bit too much for her "would be" companion; Trent, to digest at first. As he adjusts to accepting her new found revelation, he confides one of his own his father abandoned him as a child. The 2 work to support each other and maintain a deep and abiding love by virtue of their faith.Selena has given up on trusting men because she has been hurt by the villain. She wants to believe in Trent but does not want to be hurt again at the hand of a loved one that betrays her.
Buford makes a convincing point with his main characters Never give up on the power and the will of the human spirit to heal and move forward. Selena still hates dark, rainy and somber evenings; as this was the setting of the evening she was violated. Her deliverance comes when she stands up and takes control by not allowing her perpetrator to govern her reactions to the people she loves and cherishes. This is another resilient story by award winning, bestselling author Stanley G Buford and his TriDreams Productions team.
